A hand cursor over links, and a fuller guide

• ImprovedThe pointer changes to a hand over a link in Styled Mode, so you can see that clicking it follows the link.
• ImprovedThe Markdown guide (F1) explains how to link to a heading in the same document, that clicking a link in Styled Mode follows it, and that right-clicking a misspelled word offers suggestions.

Links you can click in Styled Mode

• NewLinks work in Styled Mode. Click a web link to open it in your browser, or a link to a heading in the same document to jump there. Dragging across a link still selects its text, and the arrow keys still move the caret into it.

Know when another program changes your file

• NewProsedown notices when another program changes a file you have open, such as a sync service, a script or another editor. When you switch to that file's tab, or come back to Prosedown with it in front, it asks whether to reload the file or keep the version you have in Prosedown. If you keep yours, the tab shows unsaved changes, because saving it replaces what the other program wrote.

Update now from every copy

• Improved"Update now" installs the update for you in every Windows copy of Prosedown, including the portable zip. Those copies used to send you to this page to download the installer yourself. A portable copy now updates the installed Prosedown, or installs it, and opens that one.

Styled Mode opens every document

• FixedStyled Mode no longer opens blank ("Start writing…") on a document with a <br> tag on its own line at the start or end of a paragraph. The tag shows as source on its own line, and the document saves unchanged.

The current price in the unlock dialog

• FixedThe unlock dialog's buy button shows the current price of an unlock code, $9.99. Codes you already have keep working.
• ImprovedGet a code tells prosedown.com that the visit came from the app, so we can see how many people buy from inside Prosedown. The site records this only if you allow it in its cookie banner, and the app itself still sends nothing.

Spelling suggestions on right-click

• ImprovedRight-click a misspelled word to see suggested spellings, add the word to your dictionary, or cut, copy and paste. This works in both editing modes and in the app's text boxes.

Styled Mode leaves the rest of your file as you wrote it

• FixedFront matter (the --- block of settings at the top of agent files and static-site pages) is kept exactly as written when you save from Styled Mode. It used to lose its closing ---.
• FixedBulleted lists keep the symbol and indent you wrote them with when you save from Styled Mode, instead of all turning into * lists.
• FixedSaving from Styled Mode keeps the line break at the end of the file.

Math equations, and a download a third of the size

• NewMath: write formulas in LaTeX, $…$ in a sentence or $$ … $$ on their own lines, and Prosedown draws them right in your document. GitHub, Obsidian and VS Code read the same notation.
• NewClick Insert equation (Σ) for an equation editor with a live preview and buttons for fractions, roots, sums, integrals, matrices, Greek letters and symbols.
• NewClick any formula to edit it, or type $x^2$ in a sentence and it turns into math as you type.
• ImprovedPrint, PDF and web page exports include your formulas, and Word export turns them into real Word equations you can edit in Word.
• NewTwo new Markdown guide topics (F1): using math, and a short LaTeX reference.
• ImprovedProsedown is much smaller: the installer is 10 MB instead of 29 MB, and the app takes about 30 MB on disk instead of 93 MB. Updating also clears out files older versions no longer need.
• FixedSaving from Styled Mode no longer adds backslashes inside math written in another app, like $a_1$.

Diagrams, web page export and a Markdown guide

• NewDiagrams: write flowcharts, sequence diagrams, timelines and more as text, and Prosedown draws them right in your document. Other Mermaid-aware apps, like GitHub, draw them too.
• NewClick Insert diagram to start from one of eight examples. Click the pencil on any diagram to edit its code with a live preview, and drag its corner to resize it.
• NewExport as a web page (.html): one file with the styling and your images built in, ready to email or publish.
• NewA Markdown guide: press F1 or click ? for short topics with examples you can copy, plus a one-page cheat sheet that opens as a document.
• ImprovedPrint, PDF, web page and Word exports include your diagrams at the size you set. Word gets them as pictures.
• FixedStyled Mode keeps your Markdown as you wrote it: line breaks, HTML tags like <kbd> and <sub>, and footnotes are no longer changed or lost when you save.
• ImprovedA file you open and save without changes stays exactly as it was, and Prosedown asks first if a save would rewrite something Styled Mode can't show.
• ImprovedReference-style links and plain web addresses now work in Styled Mode.

Updates built in, and a 14-day free trial

• NewProsedown tells you when a new version is out. Click Update now and it downloads the update, checks it, installs it and reopens with your documents.
• NewRelease notes in the app: click the version number in the status bar to see what changed in every version.
• NewA 14-day free trial, with the days left shown in the status bar. After that, a one-time unlock code keeps editing on; without one, your files stay open to read, print and export.
• ImprovedUpdate checks send only the app's version number, and you can switch them off in the Updates window.

• NewThe status bar shows which version of Prosedown you're running.

PDF export fix and a fully signed installer

• FixedExport as PDF works in the installed app again.
• ImprovedEvery file the installer writes, including the uninstaller, is now code-signed.

Export as PDF and Word

• NewExport as PDF: styled like the editor, with selectable text and working links.
• NewExport as Word (.docx) with real headings, lists, tables and images.
• NewAn Export menu (Ctrl+E), with a one-click Open when the file is ready.

Dark mode and live writing stats

• NewDark and light themes with a one-click toggle. Prosedown follows Windows until you pick one.

Save fix

• FixedSaving a new, never-saved document now opens the save dialog as it should.

First release

• NewEdit Markdown the way it looks (Styled) or as plain text (Code); both stay in sync.
