Bold and italic

Wrap text in * for italic, ** for bold, *** for both.

You type
This is *italic*, this is **bold**,
and this is ***bold and italic***.
You get

This is italic, this is bold,
and this is bold and italic.

Underscores work too: _italic_ and __bold__. Asterisks are the safer habit, because underscores in the middle of a word (like snake_case_name) are left alone in most apps.

You type
Un**believ**able works.
Un__believ__able doesn't.
You get

Unbelievable works.
Un__believ__able doesn't.

  • Don't leave a space just inside the markers: ** bold** stays plain text.
  • You can mix styles inside each other: **bold with *italic* inside**.
