Tables

Separate columns with | and put a line of dashes under the header.

Write a header row, then a row of dashes, then one line per row. Separate cells with |.

You type
| Day | Session | Room |
| --- | ------------- | ---- |
| Mon | Kickoff | A1 |
| Tue | **Workshops** | B2 |
You get
Day Session Room
Mon Kickoff A1
Tue Workshops B2

Add colons to the dashes to align a column: :--- left, :---: centered, ---: right.

You type
| Item | Qty | Price |
| :----- | :-: | -----: |
| Coffee | 2 | $6.00 |
| Bagel | 1 | $3.25 |
You get
Item Qty Price
Coffee 2 $6.00
Bagel 1 $3.25
  • The columns don't have to line up in the file. Neat spacing just makes it easier to read in Code Mode.
  • Bold, italic, links and inline code work inside cells.
  • To put a | inside a cell, write it as \|.
  • Each row is one line. Lists, headings and multiple paragraphs can't go inside a cell.
Tip In Styled Mode, the table button on the toolbar builds the table for you. Right-click a table to add or remove rows and columns.
